FAQ

1. How does this work?

An essential step in my understanding where you’re coming from and what you want is the consultation session, a one-on-one meeting, either on video or IRL, in which we talk about current aspects of your artistic practice that need support. So whether we’re doing writing work, studio visits, digging into a new body of work or investigating your positioning in the art scene, we will need to have at least one of these. I usually schedule an hour for a consultation.

2. How much does it cost?
A consultation costs R700 per hour (discounts for more than one session). For text work and packages, please see my rate card here. If my rates don’t fit your budget, please reach out to me anyway, and we’ll see if we can figure out alternative payment arrangements.

3. What other things can you do for me?

I can edit or rewrite exhibition statements, bios, catalogues, grant applications, CVs, etc. I can help you create a development plan and strategy. I can help you better understand your audiences in order to shape your communications with the outside world. See my rate card in the previous question.

4. What can’t you do?

I’m afraid I can’t sell your work or do direct introductions to galleries and curators in my network.

5. Does A stand for Asshole?
Not in this instance, no. It’s Plan A, as in not Plan B.

6. Why do you hate Plan B?
Unlike Arnie, I don’t. I’m all for backups, second favourites, making do. But I still think you should give Plan A a good go.
